The GWU has registered an industrial dispute with Arriva after the company announced changes in the way it pays its staff for work on public holidays.
The company said it was basing its decision on a Works Regulation Order for public transport.
The union said the company's decision is wrong.
Arriva used to pay its staff double time and give them a day off for work on public holidays. It now wants to pay then like ordinary days, a union spokesman said.
The Director of Industrial Relations has convened a conciliation meeting for next Wednesday.
The union warned it will take industrial action unless the situation reverts to what it was before the March 19 public holiday.
