PN stalwarts Francis Zammit Dimech and Beppe Fenech Adami have confirmed they are considering bidding for party leadership posts.
Chris Said is considering the secretary general post.
“I am in contact with a number of councillors who are encouraging me to go for it,” Dr Zammit Dimech said.
Dr Fenech Adami said he would do whatever he believed to be in the party’s best interest.
PN deputy leader Simon Busuttil said he would not be commenting on leadership speculation at this stage.
Former minister Mario de Marco said he was giving it due consideration. What was important was that the party, while retaining a united front, opened doors to new discussions, people, ideas, frontiers and ways of doing politics, he said.
David Agius, Clyde Puli, Pierre Portelli and Ann Fenech have also been mentioned as contenders.
