Application seeks rebuilding of Gharb fireworks factory

An application has been submitted to Mepa for the rebuilding of a fireworks factory in Gharb which was demolished in an explosion. The application, validated on March 5, is for the rebuilding of the Fontana Brothers Fireworks factory at  Ta' Garrija L/O, Gharb, Gozo. The fireworks factory had been granted the original permit in 2003 and was demolished last November. The application was submitted by Alexander Gatt. Four people died in the November explosion. Six had died in another explosion on a different, nearby site in 2010.
