Elderly woman finds herself in difficulty while swimming

An 87-year-old woman from Paola was hospitalised in critical condition this afternoon after finding herself in difficulty while swimming in Pretty Bay, Birzebbuġa. The incident happened at about 4.30pm. The woman was rescued by a lifeguard and given first aid until an ambulance arrived.
