Thief injures shop employee

The police are on the lookout for a man in his 20s who they believe was involved in a stabbing incident following an attempted theft in Gzira this afternoon. The attacker is believed to be wearing a dark jacket. The victim, an employee at Al Medina Cash & Carry in Parisio Street, was found lying on the ground in front of the shop at around 2.15pm. It is understood his face was slashed by the thief as he tried to stop him. He has been taken to Mater Dei Hospital.
