Enemalta to reveal oil procurement history

Enemalta is to disclose its oil procurement history in the coming days after the intervention of Finance Minister Tonio Fenech. It had earlier refused requests by The Times, despite a Freedom of Information request made following corruption allegations. Mr Fenech ordered the corporation to disclose its oil buying history for the past 20 years despite its claim that the information was prejudicial. The details would shed light on how often Dutch company Trafigura won contracts and if it maintained a privileged position before, during or after Mr Sammut’s involvement in oil purchasing. Mr Sammut, a former Enemalta consultant, allegedly received an illegal commission. Full story in The Times.
