A crowd of some 400 people this morning took part in a walk in support of TV personality Nirvana Azzopardi.
Ms Azzopardi, mother to two young children, is suffering from advanced breast cancer. She claimed she was misdiagnosed by her consultant in the early stages of her illness.
The walk, from Spinola to Qui-Si-Sana, was held to raise awareness of breast cancer.
Although Ms Azzopardi herself was not present, she wrote in a Facebook post that the people’s support gave her “much strength”.
Her close friend Francesca Rizzo repeated Ms Azzopardi’s message.
“Nirvana wants this walk to be aimed at raising awareness regarding breast cancer. It can hit absolutely everyone so it’s very important for people to check themselves regularly.
“She is a very loved person and a good friend to all. I’m sure she’s delighted with the huge turnout and all the positive energy coming her way.
“I think her story truly touched a lot of hearts”.
During the event, the Action For Breast Cancer distributed leaflets about breast cancer.
