New Year births

Two boys were born at Mater Dei Hospital this morning. The first, Gregory, was born at 12.45am and Kian followed an hour later. Five more births are expected. Another two babies were born at the Gozo General Hospital. A girl, Lucia, was last to be born in 2012 at 11pm. She was a surprise gift to her parents who had been preparing to leave home for a New Years Eve party when labour pains started and the couple called for an ambulance. The newborns and their parents at Mater Dei were this morning visited by Health Minister Joe Cassar, those at the Gozo Hospital, by Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono.
