A 70-year-old Valletta man died yesterday after he was run over in the capital just outside his house in Archbishop Street.
Police said the accident happened at about 2pm and he died shortly after admission in hospital.
Sources said the elderly man was wheeling his motorcycle into his home when he was hit by a Mercedes C200 driven by a 50-year-old Żebbuġ woman, about 200 metres from the Valletta police station.
Magistrate Audrey Demicoli conducted an onsite inquiry and appointed court experts to help her.
This was the eighth fatal road accident this year. The first was in January when a 23-year-old from Mtarfa crashed his Toyota Vitz into a tree in Attard.
In May, a 47-year-old woman from Mġarr died following a collision with a truck carrying skips.
In July, William Bowwell, 59, was killed in a car crash in Burmarrad.
A 60-year-old quad biker from St Julian’s died in June when he was hit by car as he was waiting to turn into a side street in St Andrew’s.
In September, a 22-year-old Mosta man died in Mġarr, when the car he was driving hit a wall.
